Lakes District Arts Council Youth Programs 2018

 

 

Local artist and LDSS grad Natasha Glanville taught a workshop at William Konkin Elementary and Grassy Plains School, on how to draw horses.

LDSS Student Emma Moore, and Local artists Amy Dash, Lorna Hannett and Jill Elliott taught three days of art camps at Yarn and Sew On in Burns Lake in August.

 

The award winning children’s quartet The Kerplunks performed for about 400 students from Francois Lake, William Konkin and Decker Lake Elementary Schools in September

Rachelle van Zanten was joined by young people on stage during the ‘Hearten Lakes District Families’ benefit concert for Southside wildfire relief in September. The concert was a joint project  of the LDAC and the Lakes District Fall Fair Association.

Becky Bowerbank’s ‘Pilots of the Bow’ youth fiddlers played for
the first performance of LDAC’s thirteen season in September.

 

1363 students and guests have attended subscription season performances free of charge over the past ten years. A young audience member  danced on stage with Tom Landa and other members of the BC World Music Collective. The young dancer brought down the house!
